7 Things Samsung Galaxy S5 Should Have to Be Successful

We are all waiting for it and our hopes are set high – yet what should Samsung add to its already very impressive Galaxy S4? And I am not talking about impressive specs here; we all know they will be great. I am talking about the 7 things, that Samsung ought to implement to get an edge over its competition.

Samsung Galaxy S4 was a marginal success for the South Korean giant, following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Galaxy S3. And while S4 was a good step forward from S3, it wasn't the greatest; it had amazing specifications, gorgeous display; but it was just a „bigger, better, and prettier“ version of the previous device.

What should Samsung do in order to create something really new and amazing? Something that will blow our minds off and leave us wanting it more than anything else?

1. A beatiful design

In order to leave the customers in awe, one needs beauty; there is no doubt that. Everyone wants to have the coolest looking phone on the market.

The Galaxy S4 was already pretty; but it lacked a sense of prestige and originality, made entirely out of simple plastic. For its successor, I would like to see some sleaky high-tech looking aluminium cover, with good-looking texture and feel to it.

2. A working fingerprint/iris scanner

I am aware that there is a fingerprint scanner on iPhone 5S, but from what I've heard, its functionality is not perfect. It reportedly needs multiple tries and even then, it's not really a certainty the phone will recognize you and let you in.

Because of that, Samsung needs to push this technology into seamlessness and total dependability, if they want to succeed. There were some rumors about a whole screen fingerprint scanner or even an iris scanner, but as I said, if it's not working at least 99 % of the time, it would be a waste of technology.

3. Durability

We all know that smartphones are very fragile devices, right? One step on them, or one fatal fall on a hard surface, and the display will crack; and you should be glad that none of the components inside were damaged.

Samsung should adress that, even briefly; I know we do not have those kind of materials, which would allow for a truly unbreakable phone, but a slight increase in durability would not hurt, and a waterproof body would also be nice to have.

4. A camera better than anything else on the market

Galaxy S4's current 13 Mpx camera on the back of the phone is great and quite sufficient for a non-proffesional consumer, but to stand out from the crowd of smartphones, Samsung should push the boundaries even further. No, I am not talking about 20 megapixels. I am talking more.

And, with Sony's reported new Xperia being able to shoot a 4K video, I don't think there should be any discussion about why Samsung can't do the same.

5. New, fresh UI

Samsung's TouchWiz interface, supported by Android Jelly Bean, has long since been the staple of the company's smartphone lineup; and I think it is a time for a change.

The new UI should be even more intuitive than the last one – it should be smarter, more elegant, faster, and more subtle. I do not doubt the graphics design will be great, but please, let it be fresh, new, and exciting.

6. A state-of-the-art battery

Current lithium-ion battery technology is already proving not to be exactly cost-effective, as screen resolutions get higher, the energy demand from apps is greater and the every year more powerful components also aren't exactly saving much of it.

While it has been rumored Samsung prepared a 3100 mAh for its new flagship, the truth is, it will last only slightly longer than the previous generations. Is it so hard to invest in a new technology? I know the costs would be high, but imagine the buzz if the new S5 could actually last awhole week without charging.

7. An affordable price

This would be probably the biggest concern for the majority of people out there, who don't have a thousand bucks to spend every year on a new best smartphone, the price should be ideally something about 500 to 550 dollars, although 650 is much more likely.

For the less wealthy, Galaxy S5 Mini, no doubt going to be released alongside the main model, would provide a sufficient replacement, as it did for the previous generations.

Conclusion

So, there you have it, the 7 things Galaxy S5 should have to be successful. What do you think should be on this new phone? What would you add to my list? Let me know in the comments down below.
